The HSE has confirmed today that it is “unlikely” that contaminated cannabis was responsible for two women being hospitalised in Drogheda last week.
On Friday, two women were brought to the intensive care unit Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Drogheda. An initial statement from the HSE indicated that contaminated batch of cannabis was to blame for their symptoms.
Today, the HSE said the results it has received to date from the State Lab are “inconclusive” and further testing is ongoing. However, it added that there had been no further incidents or hospital admissions “and it now seems unlikely that contaminated cannabis was the cause of the hospitalisation of two women last week in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital”.
