Many smokers continue to believe that some cigarette brands are less harmful than others, despite the fact that all conventional brands present the same level of risk, the results of a new study indicate.
Researchers polled over 8,000 smokers in the UK, the US, Canada and Australia. Around one in five of these incorrectly believed that ‘some cigarette brands could be less harmful than others'.
Current research shows that smokers base their perceptions of risk on pack colour, believing that silver, gold and white brands are less harmful to smoke than black or red brands.
