The owner of the premesis on Castle street, Adrian Murray has confirmed to Shannonside News that he has secured a court injunction and the people running the Headshop will vacate the premises in the next 2 weeks.
He's acknowledged the concern of the community over the presence of this Headshop in the town and says he's happy to have played his part in closing it.
Mr Murray says the people running the Headshop will not be able to rent his premises again in the future.
Jackie Snype, Secretary of the Anti Head Shop group says while she's delighted with the development, it wouldn't have happened without the support of the people of Roscommon. Meanwhile, Roscommon Senator Terry Leyden is welcoming news that the Head-shop is to close permanently.
Senator Leyden is now advising landlords and auctioneers in this region to ensure no other property is rented to head shop owners.
He's confident the new legislation announced by the Justice Minister yesterday will be passed by the summer recess.
While last month's ban on a range of products shut many of them immediately, dozens have re-opened with new products or using different brand names or ingredients.
Dermot Ahern is now drafting a bill that would effectively outlaw any shop selling any form of a psycho-active substance.
