University College Dublin (UCD) is aiming to go ‘smoke-free’, after students voted for sales of cigarettes and tobacco to be stubbed out on campus.
The ban on sales of tobacco products at UCD students’ union outlets and on-campus shops is due to be implemented from 1 September.
Students voted by 55% last October to ban smoking on Belfield campus. The ban on tobacco sales is said to be the first step towards achieving a smoke-free UCD campus.
Trinity College Dublin is also said to be considering a ban on cigarette sales at its campus.
