NEW POSTER: HSE and Department of health share harm reduction for people who use drugs

The HSE and Department of Health have released a new harm reduction poster for people who use drugs during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Ireland is currently in a delay phase. We know that Coronavirus (COVID-19) is contagious and many people will catch it. Our delay strategy is planned to slow down the spread of the virus.

People who use drugs are a vulberable group and are at greater risk of illness from COVID-19. They are also at greater risk of experiencing overdose if they use drugs and have COVID-19.

This new poster aims to help people reduce the harms associated with drug use and COVID-19.

As well as this information, please direct people towards the HSE COVID -19 information that can be found here.

It is also important to remind people that using drugs alone can be dangerous due to the risk of overdose and lack of emergency help. In these cases, people should be advised to implement general harm reduction information such as using very small amounts, consider how they administer the drug and to use one substance at a time.

Get medical help by calling 999/112 if you or a friend become unwell or feel suicidal after using drugs.
