International addictions nursing conference

The Ireland Chapter of The International Nurses Society on Addictions (IntNSA) are delighted to announce that we will be hosting an International addictions nursing conference in co-operation with Dublin City University on 10th June 2016.

This conference is the first of its kind in Europe and will be supported by the Nursing and Midwifery Planning and Development Unit and some other sponsors. We would like the audience to be as diverse as possible and warmly welcome all attendees.


Topics will include:

  • Non-medical prescribing in substance misuse- UK experience, evidence base, future opportunities and challenges
  • Irish service user perspectives on treatment services
  • 'Chemsex'- drugs and sexual health  in the gay community- overview and treatment
  • Medically supervised safe injecting centres- The Dutch experience- a nursing perspective
  • International perspectives on addictions nursing - responding to globalisation
  • Future directions- The Irish addictions nursing perspective
  • A panel discussion- Questions and Answers

Futher details on how to register will appear on drugs.ie and elsewhere in early March but for now please keep the date free.
