Two Northside-based drugs services have accused the new Government of showing a “lack of commitment” to the fight against drugs.
CityWide Drugs Crisis Campaign, which is based in Fairview, and the Dublin North East Drugs Task Force are up in arms over the Government’s failure to reinstate a minister tasked with special responsibility for drugs. Daithi Doolan, spokesperson for CityWide, believes the Government cannot seriously tackle the escalating drugs crisis without a dedicated minister or department. “How seriously can they be taking the drugs issue if they don’t even know what department is supposed to be looking after it?” Mr Doolan told Northside People.
