Drugs and homelessness in Dublin to be focus of special conference

LISTEN: It will involve stakeholders from homeless, drug treatment and business groups

Concerns over the level of drugs and homelessness in Dublin are to be addressed at a special conference in the city today.

The seminar, entitled "A Better City for All", will see stakeholders from homeless, drug treatment, business and law enforcement groups join forces in the hopes of coming up with practical solutions on a number of issues.

The gathering will be addressed by the newly-appointed Drugs Minister Áodhan Ó Ríordán and the Lord Mayor Christy Burke, along with experts from various fields.

Dublin Lord Mayor Christy Burke said: "It is well documented that the city centre has addiction issues and related anti-social behaviour issues, it is an area that I am determined to see solutions. I have made addressing these issues a focus of my term as Lord Mayor of Dublin. I welcome the Better City for All initiative, where agencies and stakeholders across the city are combining their knowledge and expertise to develop sustainable solutions."
