The Drugs Minister says these shocking images show exactly why there is an urgent need for mobile injecting centres in Dublin.
Labour minister Aodhan O'Riordan is today taking a walk through Dublin's well-known black spots for drug use, to highlight the issue.
Today, he tweeted photos of what he encountered during the walkabout.
He found dirty syringes and pavements soiled with excrement and blood.
"We need an Injecting Centre. Human blood and excrement and also syringes openly visible on our streets," he tweeted.
Previously, the minister has said: "I think everyone who lives in Dublin knows that it happens."
