Frustration was expressed following a presentation by the Midlands Regional Drugs Task Force (MRDTF) to Laois County Council and Portlaoise Joint Policing Committee (JPC) members after a representative of the drugs agency did not have an idea of how many people were on the waiting list for drug treatment in the county.
The MRDTF researches, develops, implements and monitors and coordinates a response to illicit drug use in counties Laois, Offaly, Longford and Westmeath.
Lynn Farrell, development worker with the MRDTF, gave a presentation on the role of the organisation at Áras an Chontae last week.
While councillors were grateful to Ms Farrell for her in depth presentation, dissatisfaction was expressed at the lack of information about the current drug situation in Laois.
