Budding young journalists and producers could win €2,000 if their work scoops a prize at the National Youth Media Awards.
Entries for the competition — which must be in by February 16 — can be in the form of a news article, a video/animation, an audio recording, or poster design.
The themes for this year’s awards are the effects of alcohol on the family and the effects of drugs on mental health.
They are four age categories: 12-14; 15-17; 18-21; and 21-25.
The competition is backed by Drugs.ie, an independent information website managed by the Ana Liffey Drug Project. The project is based in Dublin and also operates services in the Midlands and the Mid-West.
The awards are supported by the HSE National Social Inclusion Office, The Drug Programmes and Policy Unit in the Department of Health, Healthy Ireland, and Cosc (the National Office for the Prevention of Domestic, Sexual and Gender-based Violence) in the Department of Justice and Equality.
People entering are in with a chance of winning an overall prize of €2,000 and have their work published on the Drugs.ie website or broadcast.
