Anti-drug project notices increase in cocaine abuse

A project that was set up to tackle cocaine abuse on the Southside has noticed a substantial increase in the number of people seeking help.

The Tallaght Cocaine project is a partnership comprising two established community groups in the area, the St Dominic’s Community Response Project, as well as the Killinarden Community Addiction Response Programme (CARP).

Both have been active in the delivery of drug-related services since 1995. They have revealed that the number of cocaine users who have presented to their clinics increased since the end of last year and continued to rise into 2011.
