The demonstration is set to attract protest groups from around the country and Dublin as reports of adverse reactions to products sold in head shops mount.
It follows a local picket in Clontarf, north Dublin, on Saturday, against the opening of a new head store in the affluent suburb.
More than 200 people attended the picket, which attracted local political representatives and celebrity resident Gerry Ryan.
One of the organisers of this week’s Dáil protest is Jacqui Snype of the Roscommon Head Shop Group, which has held a number of protests locally.
"On Wednesday, 24 March, concerned citizens will mount a picket on Dáil Éireann in protest against the operation of so called head shops in Ireland," she said.
"We are not satisfied with suggestions of regulation coming from within some political circles. Our bottom line is closure," she said.
"The head shops themselves support regulation which goes to prove that it would work in their favour. Regulation will not work. Head shop operators will always outsmart the bureaucracy in Government.
"The mental health of our youngsters, as well as their wellbeing is at stake. There have already been casualties. This cannot continue."
