Like all drunks, were in denial about realityAS female celebrities glamourise alcohol addiction and we, the media, collude by plugging their books and failing to ask tough questions around their addictions, it’s hardly surprising more than a third of the women interviewed in the Sunday Independent/ Millward Brown IMS poll, 36 per cent, want easy access to buying alcohol. Excessive drinking, followed by a stint in rehab, is now de rigueur.

Seminar hears calls for expansion of needle exchange services across the countryDrugs service professionals attending a seminar on harm reduction services for drug users today heard calls for the urgent expansion of harm reduction services to address the high risks associated injecting drug use. The seminar ‘An Injection of Common Sense’ was organised to mark the launch a new guide on safer injecting techniques for drug users and was opened by the Minister of State, with Special Responsibility for the National Drug Strategy Mr. Pat Carey T.D.
