High strength MDMA products a risk for festival goers

High strength MDMA pills, powders and crystals can increase the risks for people attending festivals this summer.

Following the analysis of a number of products in June 2024, the HSE has issued an update for the public on high strength MDMA which could come in the form of pills, powders and crystals.

The update states that products could be over two times the average dose with pills analysed found to contain between 143mg – 222mg of MDMA.

What does this mean for people who use MDMA?

They could take too much too soon without realising which can lead to a drug emergency, hospitalisation or death.

It could be harder to know how much is taken with powders/crystals.

It is safer not to use at all and there is always risk.
