PMA Category: Stimulants
Also called: paramethoxyamphetamine, paramethoxymethyamphetamine, chicken yellow, chicken fever, double stacked, mitsubishi turbo, red mitsubishi, killer.
How it’s used
PMA is an amphetamine which looks like and may be sold as ecstasy. It usually comes as a white pressed tablet, thicker than ecstasy (6mm thick).
Short-term effects
- Effects can be slow to happen
- A small amount can increase your blood pressure, body temperature and pulse rate
- Effects are similar to ecstasy, you feel intense emotions and great love for people around you
- Can cause muscle spasms
- You may feel sick after taking it.
Long-term effects
- Sleep problems, lack of energy and dietary problems
- Mental health problems such as paranoia and depression
- Heart failure
- Heatstroke or dehydration
- Like ecstasy, you need to stay hydrated but it is dangerous to drink too much too fast – best to sip 1 pint of water per hour
- You may get more colds, flu and sore throats
Other dangers
- The effects of PMA take time to happen. Your risk of overdose is high as you may think nothing’s happening and take more
- Overheating can be fatal
- Dangerous if you have blood pressure problems, asthma or epilepsy
If you are pregnant
Do not use if you are pregnant as we don’t know enough about the risks to your baby.
Addictive
PMA is not addictive, but you can develop tolerance so you need to take more to get the same effect.
Withdrawal
As PMA is not addictive, you will not have many withdrawal symptoms
